The Aerospace Division revised its structure and is reorganising itself into the following set of committees:
Aerospace Executive Committee
The aim is for the Division to have a small Executive Committee consisting of six senior individuals ideally from aerospace industry, research, government and research that would meet once a year to provide senior leadership and direction.
Aerospace Board
Each representative on the Board has a designated role and is responsible for executing any duties or actions relating to reporting on technical activities, links with industry, academia, government, defence, not to mention how it communicates with regions and areas.
Aerospace Technical Committee
This committee's primary duty is to focus on the Division's forward technical programme. It is headed by one of the Division's Vice-Chairmen and membership comprises of the chairmen of the five Technical Activity Committees:
Aerospace Materials & Structures
Airworthiness
Propulsion
Transmissions
along with the chairmen of the two Centres:
Western Aerospace Centre
Aerospace North West
and representatives from our sister organisations:
Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS)
Member Outreach Committee
This committee's objectives are:
• To provide support to all existing and prospective members through:
o A comprehensive communications network
o Readily available and current information to promote awareness of technical activities
o Encouraging networking to support career development and the wider aerospace
engineering community
• To increase membership by promoting the IMechE /AeD as the professional home of the
aerospace engineer
• To encourage member involvement in the Institution’s role as a national voice for the
aerospace engineer and relevant matters of the day (especially Energy, Environment,
Transport and Education)
• To encourage member feedback to support IMechE/AeD improvements
