[April 2007] At a celebratory banquet held in December 2006 to mark 50 years of there being a committee addressing engineering issues of lubrication and wear in the Institution and 40 years of the Tribology Group, Dr H Peter Jost CBE - the man responsible for the creation of the word 'tribology' - was presented IMechE with an award to recognise 50 years of contribution. This award was presented to him by Mr Alec Osborn, President.  Other VIPs attending the banquet included Sir Hugh Ford FRS, an original member of the Group and Sir Robin Saxby, President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
