J F Alcock Memorial Prize

The John F Alcock Memorial Prize (Serial 328) is funded from the Trust for Education and Research

Trust Conditions

Established 25 July 1983 by the Railway Industry Association of Great Britain in memory of the late John F Alcock. The fund totalled £5,000.

Award Conditions

A prize to be awarded annually for a paper to be published by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or a contribution, which concentrates on technical innovation in the railway traction field. The Judging Committee is to be:

  1. The Chairman of the Railway Industry Association of Great Britain
  2. The Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Railway Division IMechE
  3. Two other members of the Technical Committee of the Railway Division.

The Prize may be awarded for a paper or for a contribution or for achievement in that field. Open to members and non-members of the Institution.

Value of Awards:

One or more can be chosen up to the £1,000 budget allocation from the following 5 Prize Serials:

(N.B. No prize should be less than £100).
