This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn more about Lean and Six Sigma, what the similarities and differences are, and how they might benefit their organisation.

This practical and engaging course will give delegates a solid understanding of both Lean and Six Sigma principles and methods, and enable them to apply an introductory selection of best practice tools to improve existing products and processes.

The course gives a top level understanding of the concepts and philosophies involved in both disciplines; as well as some basic tools that can be applied immediately. It provides a foundation for further development in Six Sigma at all levels up to Master Black Belt; as well as for the Lean Practitioner course. 

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for ngineering managers who are considering Lean or Six Sigma as a potential approach for improving processes and solving business problems, and engineers who wish to understand the basics of Lean and Six Sigma, with the potential of applying some of the fundamental tools.

How will I benefit?

After the course you will be able to:
  • Understand the fundamentals of Six Sigma
  • Understand the fundamentals of Lean
  • Understand the difference between Lean and Six Sigma, and also how they can be used in complementary ways
  • Recognise best practice deployment of both Six Sigma and Lean
  • Identify opportunities for applying Lean and improving performance of key metrics in your and others’ areas
  • Know where to apply Lean tools to deliver quick wins and the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology to support improvement projects
  • Be able to use a selection of key improvement tools, focussing on DMAIC and including an introduction to some statistical tools
  • Develop a Project Charter
  • Plan the next step of your Lean and Six Sigma journey
