Products are increasingly being defined by their software. From connected vehicles to intelligent manufacturing systems, the competitive nature of physical products now depends as much on their software architecture as on their physical design.  Engineering managers often struggle to align timelines, leading to late-stage rework and costs when hardware and software development styles and cultures need to be integrated.

Technical knowledge alone is not enough for engineers and managers navigating these programmes. Leading integrated projects means aligning teams that operate with fundamentally different methodologies, making architectural decisions, and building the business case for infrastructure investments that are hard to quantify in the short term.

This two-day course gives engineers and managers the tools to make better decisions earlier, reduce programme risk, and lead integrated hardware-software development projects with greater confidence and control. 

Delegates will explore how integrated teams coordinate hardware and software development across prototyping, testing, and validation, through real-world case studies. The course examines how techniques such as digital simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing, and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) shape programme decisions and inform technical leadership.

By attending, delegates will leave with practical frameworks they can apply immediately to their projects, their teams, and the technical trade-offs they face every day. This provides more predictable delivery, reduced R&D costs and teams better equipped to compete in an increasingly software-driven market.
