Summary

We've developed this course to provide engineers with the process, language and tools to raise their own effectiveness when innovating and problem solving.

The programme provides tools for defining the problem, generating creative options and ideas, and then filtering and evaluating these to apply the most relevant.  It's interactive and participants will be encouraged to experiment with the tools and apply them. They will then be able to use these skills in the workplace when working in teams to solve problems.

Who should attend?

This programme is suitable for engineers and non-engineers at all levels.

How will I benefit?

After the course you will be able to:

  • Understand why we find creativity difficult and how we can overcome this!
  • Better understand the problem by using a range of problem definition techniques
  • Apply a range of problem solving tools
  • Understand your problem solving styles preference and "flex" your style to situations and audiences in order to get the required result.
  • Recognise the different types of innovation and how to select the appropriate type in your work
  • Understand and apply a wealth of creativity techniques to solving your problems
  • Know how to move from generating ideas to applying them to problems
  • Evaluate and apply the best idea to solve the problem
  • Effectively stimulate and get the most from your team when solving problems

Contributes 14 CPD hours

The course covers several tools that are valuable for generating ideas that would not normally be considered. Teaches you to look at things from a different perspective.
