Professor Graeme Britton

Emeritus Professor Graeme Britton has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, PhD in operations research, and Doctor of Engineering in Design and Manufacturing from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Graeme started his career as an apprentice in Engines and Airframes at National Airways Corporation (now Air New Zealand). During his apprenticeship he was awarded a scholarship to study at Rolls Royce in Derby for one year.

After his PhD, Graeme became a university lecturer at the University of Canterbury. In 1990, Graeme moved to Singapore as an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University where he taught for 16 years. In 2006, he joined the private education sector. In 2013 he was appointed President and CEO of Raffles University, a new university he was to successfully start up in Malaysia. He retired as President of the university in 2021, but is still active in providing business consulting services to Small and Medium Enterprises.

Graeme became a member of the IMechE in 1989 and Fellow in 1997. He was the founding Chairman of the IMechE Singapore Branch. In addition, he has held the positions of Branch Treasurer, and Vice Chairman. In 1998, Graeme won the IMechE Outstanding Branch Member Award.

Graeme is a new member of the Trustee Board, appointed in June 2022.
