Clive Hickman was born in Coseley, West Midlands, and studied at the University of Wolverhampton, Aston University and Loughborough University, holding a BSc and a PhD in mechanical engineering and a MBA. He is a Fellow of IMechE and Royal Academy of Engineering and has served on several Boards and committees of IMechE dating back to the early 1990’s. During his career, he has been Chief Executive of Tata Motors European Technical Centre, Engineering Director of Tata Motors, Managing Director of Ricardo UK, Engineering Director at MIRA and Executive Engineer with Rover Group. Clive has been CEO of the MTC since it was founded in 2010. He has recently chaired the Midlands Manufacturing Resilience Commission, won the Institute of Directors Chair’s Award for Excellence and Board Practice for the West Midlands in 2020 and the RAEng Sir Frank Whittle gold medal in 2021. He was awarded OBE in the 2022 New Years Honours list. On the international stage, Clive is a member of the Board of EARTO ( the European Association of RTOs) where represents the UK RTO community.
