Understand the fundamentals of remote handling technologies and how they can be utilised to improve efficiency and safety; whether that be robotics, drones or other unmanned platforms.

Robots and drones cover a wide variety of machines and devices, for use in a multitude of applications, so learning what’s available in terms of platforms, tools, and services is vital to stay ahead of the game in this evolving area of engineering. 
 
This course is focussed on bringing out your existing engineering knowledge so you can utilise it in remote handling applications and look at how you can apply this to your organisation. We will use a series of case studies and models to evaluate scenarios in high hazard handling, manufacturing, and inspection & maintenance. 

By the end of this course delegates will be able to look at jobs, tasks, and projects in their workplace, and evaluate what remote handling technology would be a safe and effective avenue to spend time and money on.

This course is designed for engineers who are working on assets that could benefit from the utilisation of robotics or drones. 

The focus is on engineers who work on solutions in hazardous environments or improving efficiency.

• Grasp the common categories of remote handling equipment [RHE] and their applications. 

• Analyse the application of common end effectors on RHE. 

• Assess if an RHE solution is feasible and reasonable for a given application. 

• Select platforms, end effectors, and services to meet a given RHE specification. 

• Evaluate an existing RHE solution and suggest methods for improvement. 

• Create a personal plan to continuously incorporate the fundamentals of remote handling into your operations.
