Institution relaunches Chartered Environmentalist grade

Institution of Mechanical Engineers is calling on members working on environmental issues to apply

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is today relaunching the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) grade and calling on members who want to set themselves apart as being specialists in environmental issues to apply.

Dr Tim Fox CEng FIMechE CEnv, Head of Energy and Environment at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, said:

“Cleantech and sustainability are sectors that have seen spectacular growth in recent decades, and having a proven track record in these fields is increasingly valued by companies, Government and educational organisations.

“Becoming a Chartered Environmentalist through the Institution is a straightforward process which distinguishes someone as a specialist in environmental issues.

“Being a Chartered Environmentalist enhances career prospects and provides employers with reassurance that they’re employing an individual with a proven track record working on issues such as renewable energy, cleantech and sustainability.  These areas of expertise are set to become increasingly important in the years ahead as we get to grip some of the big 21st Century challenges.”

To be eligible to register for CEnv through the Institution, candidates must be Institution members − ideally registered at Chartered grade. Members registered at Incorporated Engineer, may also be eligible if they hold an appropriately relevant Masters level qualification.  Access through this route will be through individual case procedures.

Individuals who become Chartered Environmentalists through the Institution of Mechanical Engineers benefit from events and network opportunities run by the Institution as well as the Society for the Environment.
