Imagine a portable welding system that lets you undertake repair jobs without direct access to mains electricity, giving you unprecedented freedom of movement…It’s here! Lightweight at just 11kg, portable and off-grid, the Accupocket 150/400 from Fronius is the world’s first MMA welding system with an integrated high-performing lithium-ion rechargeable battery for manual electrode and TIG welding.

The Fronius Accupocket is supplied with a charging device that is specially tailored to the requirements of the welding unit. In fast charging mode, it only takes 30 minutes to recharge the battery to more than 90% of its total capacity of 400Wh. A fully charged battery delivers sufficient power to weld up to six 3.25 mm diameter electrodes or 18 electrodes of 2.5 mm in diameter. Compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, the rechargeable batteries used in the Accupocket stand out for having the highest intrinsic safety and environmental compatibility currently available, lower self-discharge and no memory-effect. Built-in battery-management functions and the specially adapted external ActiveCharger together ensure safe operation and long battery-cell life.

Hybrid Mode, Battery Mode, Generator Mode

Even when attached to the ActiveCharger, the Accupocket can still be used to carry on working in hybrid mode and works from a 2Kva Generator or 110v and 240v Mains supply (depending on charger chosen). During run-times, the energy from the battery is used to ensure a constant arc under all operating conditions (e.g. mains-voltage fluctuations). One huge advantage is on a 110v mains supply in Hybrid mode you can weld up to 140Amps on MMA and 150Amps in TIG mode.

Thanks to its facility for battery-powered operation, AccuPocket minimises time-consuming weld preparation work. This means that in many applications, it is actually more economical, over its service life as a whole, than conventional electrode welding systems.
