A university has teamed up with the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to offer better encouragement, support and development for young female engineers.
Announced ahead of International Women in Engineering Day tomorrow, the University of Warwick’s school of engineering has become an official education partner of the society.
The partnership will create a student group support network and offer access to ‘knowledge sharing’ events.
“In my roles as Warwick academic and WES trustee, I am delighted to see the school of engineering becoming a WES education partner,” said WES trustee and civil engineering course leader Dr Georgia Kremmyda.
She said the partnership will bring together “a university strongly supportive of diversity, equality and inclusion with a long-standing professional network of women engineers to enable inspiration, support and professional development to female engineers”.
Alumni-funded WES scholarships are available to first-year undergraduates, and the school of engineering also supports the society’s annual student conference.
