There were decreases in nine of the 13 manufacturing sub sectors
Manufacturing production in the UK fell more than expected in June, according to data from the Office for National Statistics.
The ONS statistics revealed that manufacturing production fell 0.3% in June compared to a decline of 0.6% in May.
Overall, industrial production rose 0.1% in June compared to May, when output fell 0.6%. This was in line with economist's forecasts.
There were decreases in nine of the 13 manufacturing sub sectors, with the largest contribution coming from the manufacture of transport equipment, which decreased by 1%.
ONS chief economist Joe Grice said: "As we previously highlighted in our preliminary estimate of GDP, production and the wider economy grew strongly in April and then remained at roughly the same level throughout May and June.
"Any uncertainties in the run-up to the referendum seem to have had little impact on production, with very few respondents to our surveys reporting it as an issue."
On a year-on-year basis, manufacturing production grew 0.9%, while industrial production grew 1.6%.
