The J750 is hoped will streamline the way products are designed, evaluated and brought to market

Stratasys has introduced the J750 printer which it says will streamline the process for users to create a broad range of multi-colour and multi-property prototypes.

Now available for purchase, the J750 offers more than 360,000 different colour options combined with a six-material capacity, including transparent VeroClear and digital ABS, allowing users to achieve a range of output with various properties, from rigid to flexible and opaque to transparent features, while matching exact colour requirements. The machine also features next-generation print heads for improved speed and print quality.

Vast production capabilities are coupled with the new ‘intuitive’ PolyJet Studio workflow software, which features a variety of design tool for designers to optimise colour assignment, opacity and rigidity, as well as manage print queues with ease. Colour textures can be loaded fully intact via VRML files imported from CAD tools.

Josh Claman, chief business officer at Stratasys said: “With the introduction of the J750, we are harnessing more than 25 years of experience to set a new historical milestone in 3D printing – reaffirming our commitment to keeping customers always on the cutting edge of innovation.

“With its one-stop realism, the J750 is quite simply a game changer. By combining full colour with multiple materials and a streamlined workflow, it recalibrates the impact of 3D printing in the product development cycle. Informed design decisions can be made immediately after the conception stage. The time saved by eliminating the painting and assembly process can lead to faster product delivery times. The J750 is a multi-purpose system that can also produce production tools, manufacturing moulds, teaching aids, and other models – truly raising the bar in 3D printing versatility.”

The J750 is hoped will streamline the process of conception, design, prototyping and commercialisation of a product as well as provide a low cost of ownership, with the manufacturer claiming that models can be generated within hours of developing an initial concept for immediate design, minus the usual production complexities and overuse of resources.

Brycen Smith, engineering technician supervisor for OtterBox added: "We’ve used 3D printers for years but nothing has come close to revolutionising our design and ideation process the way the Stratasys J750 has. Stratasys allows us to innovate in ways we never thought possible and gives us the ability to create true product-matching prototypes and to cut down the time necessary to bring products to market. The Stratasys J750 is a game-changer for both OtterBox and the 3D printing industry.”
