The Young Members Committee of United Arab Emirates organised their third SOfE (Speak out for Engineering) on 29 November 2017 at Manipal University Dubai Campus.
The young mechanical engineers, Affiliate members of IMechE from Heriot-Watt University Dubai, University of Bolton RAK Campus and Manipal University Dubai along with Affiliate members of IMechE from the industry sector within the United Arab Emirates took part in this competition.
The competition asks young engineers to prove that they can ‘communicate effectively’, an important area for today’s developing engineers. The speaker should give an individual oral presentation on a subject relating to mechanical engineering for not more than 20 minutes, followed by a 10 minutes Q&A session from the audience.
The judges for this competition were Mr. Stuart Merrick MIMechE, who is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years experience in offshore oil and gas projects, Mr. Keith Usher, Managing Director, Insight Learning Organization, Mr. Muhammad Aaqib Raza UAE and IMechE Young Member Representative MEA. Mr.Rajiv, Mr Yaqoob and colleagues, from the Engineering Faculty of Manipal University and University Of Bolton RAK Campus were guests at the event.
After intense competition and wonderful presentations by the talented speakers, Mr. Fauzan Sheikh was declared the winner with his presentation on "Nuclear Fusion" and Mr. Marwan O. Al Dajani, runner up with "Impact of Rational Heat Transfer on Design of Surge Vessels".
The champion will receive £300 plus certificate while the runner-up will receive £200 plus certificate.
