The Institution's Malaysia Branch proudly hosted this year's South East Asia Region Meeting & SoFE competition finals at the Taylor’s University; congratulations to Ms. Shreyasi Hait the Winner of the Finals from Malaysia.
On 25 April 2015, the Institution's Malaysia Branch hosted the SEAR Chair’s Meeting & SEAR Speak Out for Engineering (SOfE) competition at the Taylor’s University, Lakeside Campus, Selangor, Malaysia. This events and facilities were organized by the Taylor’s University Student Chapter under the umbrella of YMS Malaysia Branch led by its Chairman, Mr. Chen Khin Fai.
The Student Chapter of Taylor’s University specifically undertook the organization of all aspect of SEAR SOfE on behalf of SEAR. There were four participants from two countries. The participants were:

At the end of the competition, all SEAR Chair’s Meeting participants, judges, organizing committees and SOfE participants were hosted to a dinner at Kelab Golf Negara Subang by Ir. PE Chong assisted by Ir. Mathew Thomas, Chairman Malaysia Branch.
The winners of SEAR SOfE 2015 was declared at the dinner. The participant from Malaysia, Ms. Shreyasi Hait, from University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus was the champion with her presentation titled “FPSO: A Revolution in Oil and Gas” and the runner-up was Johan Kok Zhi Kang from Nayang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, with his presentation titled “Molecular Dynamics in Carbon Nanotubes”. Winner of the SEAR SOfE 2015 – Ms. Shreyasi Hait receiving her Certificate from Ir. PE Chong accompanied by Ir. Mathew Thomas Runner up of the SEAR SOfE 2015, Johan Kok Zhi Kang.
The day which began at 9am with the SEAR Chair’s Meeting ended at 9.30pm with everyone enjoying dinner and the SEAR SOfE prize presentation. The participants, Young Members of the Institution and guests present had the opportunity for short interaction and networking session.
