Biomedical engineering seminar
IMechE An-najah Chapter, in cooperation with some medical societies at An-Najah National University, organised a event entitled "Engineering in Medicine" on 5 December 2019. The event was attended by a number of professors' assistants at the Faculty of Engineering and the some administrators in the University and a large number of students from the College of Engineering and from the College of Medicine.
The seminar aimed to expand the concept of engineering fields for students and how we can link between engineering and medicine and how we can use the engineering mind to solve medical problems.
The event was delivered by Eng Hamza Nassar and Eng Alaa Saadeddin, graduates from the College of Engineering at An-Najah National University. Each of the engineers talked about their graduation project "artificial arm" which translates the nerve commands into the movement.
Hydraulic excavators
The IMechE Mechanics Association held a competition, "Best Hydraulic Excavator Project 2019" competition at the An-Najah National University in Nablus, on 12 December. Five teams participated in the competition.
The competition's aim is to motivate students and unleash their abilities to innovate and distinguish, and to link the theoretical side to the practical side of the courses they study through practical application, especially the machine theory course they study at An-Najah National University. The projects were evaluated based on the movement of the vehicle from one place to another, and the hydraulic movement of all parts.
Projects were evaluated by Dr Iyad Assaf, Faculty member in the Department of Mechanics and Mechatronics in the College of Engineering, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr Ali Abdel Hamid and Dr Mahmoud Asaad, supervisor of the IMechE Association and in the presence of a number of doctors of the Mechanics Department at An-Najah National University.
All the contestants received financial rewards, and the winning team, Ahmad YahyaSobeih, and Fahd Hamadallah received a prize money of 400 shekels.
