Queen's Birthday Honours recognise Stem champions

Former IMechE president Isobel Pollock and WES' Dorothy Hatfield awarded OBEs

Former IMechE president Isobel Pollock has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Pollock, who was appointed as the 127th IMechE president in May 2012, has also worked with the Engineering Council, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the National Physical Laboratory.

She has held senior management positions with companies including ICI, DuPont, Robert McBride and Beatson Clark, becoming an expert in the chemicals, metal handling, glassware, food, drinks and pharmaceutical industries.

Pollock said: “I am delighted and honoured to be granted an OBE for my services to mechanical engineering, a sector I feel so passionate about.

“Engineering lies at the heart of a successful and vibrant society, and I am committed to continue my work to encourage this vital sector.”

Meanwhile, the Women's Engineering Society's Dorothy Hatfield was also awarded an OBE.
