Meet the Team: Smarttech

We catch up with Team SmartTech, one of the teams who are looking to retain the championship for Leonardo UK.

Team SmartTech consists of a group of apprentices from across Leonardo’s functional areas whose specialist skills have come together to produce Scanner X.

Team SmartTech is based at Leonardo’s Luton site in the UK and are involved in the design and development of the business’s electronic warfare capability, contributing to the protection of airborne platforms from a variety of RF-based threats.

The team consists of:

• Joe Cesare, Business Degree Apprentice
• James Costin, Manufacturing Apprentice
• Felix Houghton, Software Degree Apprentice
• Nathan Studley, Technical Apprentice

We are part of the Leonardo Apprentice Intake of 2019 and 2021 are are continually developing knowledge of business, technical, engineering and manufacturing disciplines throughout their schemes. Ultimately, we have chosen the name SmartTech because it infers a piece of equipment that is useful, beneficial, safe and easy to use whilst reflecting the core value of the team and what we stand for.
