IMechE has launched a scheme to develop skills that are valued both by the British Armed Forces and its members.
The Armed Forces Training Scheme (AFTS) has been designed to facilitate access to engineering-focused learning to members of the British Armed Forces (regular and reserve).
The courses that are part of the scheme are exclusive to armed forces personnel, and carefully selected based on research and recommendations from our contacts within the armed forces so that they are as relevant as possible.
Furthermore, AFTS courses are specially priced so that most of the cost can be paid by utilising Standard Learning Credits. The Armed Forces Training Scheme (AFTS) is scheduled to run until March 2022.
“Our intention is to run at least one course (as part of the Armed forces Training Scheme) each month until the end of the Scheme” explains Mark Pepperell, General Manager for the Intuition’s Commercial Training & Venue Hire.
AFTS courses will be delivered using live virtual classroom technology. Currently, there are three courses available to book:
We intend to add three to four courses per quarter until the end of the Scheme in March 2022. If you would like to suggest a course, please email us at training@imeche.org.
AFTS courses are priced so that British Armed Forces members can utilise their annual Standard Learning Credits (SLC) towards most of the cost of the courses.
If SLC is utilised, 80% of the cost of the course fee (up to £175) could be claimed back through the SLC process, minimising the costs to you.
If you intend to claim SLC, please contact your Education Centre for more information about the claiming process prior to paying for/starting our AFTS courses.
