IMechE UET Taxila Student Chapter organised an industrial tour to Volta Batteries (Pvt.) Ltd. exclusively for its members on 20 November 2019.
Volta Batteries, established in 1993, is ISO-9001& ISO-14001 certified and they have been producing various types of automotive and inverter batteries, under the brand names of “VOLTA” and “OSAKA” for more than 19 years.
They have state of the art manufacturing unit to produce quality products with more than 3000 employees. Their head office in Islamabad is supported by seven regional offices across the country.
The visit was attended by 40 regular members of IMechE and two faculty members Engr. Salahuddin and Dr. Amir Sohail who were welcomed to Volta and given an introductory session. Then it was on to the tour of the plant:
Industrial tours play a vital role in engineering enabling engineering students to get good exposure to technical knowledge which helps them in their practical life. Keeping in mind the importance of this, IMechE UET Taxila arranged an industrial tour which attracted many students.
Battery technology is one of most important upcoming technology with the advent of EV powered vehicles and new energy storage solution required for the changing world. Education in this technology will help young engineers to be better prepared for the upcoming technology and to learn and think ahead of time what innovation can be made in this industry.
IMechE UET Taxila strives to provide its members with opportunities for their professional growth. The idea behind this visit was to make the students develop a pragmatic thinking capability by observing the practical world. Through such visits, they get to know how industries work and what key areas of knowledge they should have while aiming for their field.
