The Col B T Nagrani Memorial Lecture was attended by almost 50 members of the Institution and guests.
It was organised by the Institution's India Branch and held at the Civil Services Officers’ Institute, Vinay Marg, New Delhi.
The lecture, entitled ‘Engineering Education in India’ was given by Lt Gen Dr A K S Chandele PVSM AVSM, Director-General (retired) of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (EME).
Col Nagrani was the First Vice Chairman of the Institution's India Branch from 2008, the year it was launched, till his demise in 2011. He was also Secretary General of the Institution of Engineers India for 18 years. He steered the growth and strengthened the foundations of both these institutions.
Lt Gen Chandele is the Managing Editor of Geointelligence. He was commissioned in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, which is responsible for the repair, maintenance and overhaul of the complete range of weapons and equipment of the army. A memento on the occasion was presented to Lt Gen Dr Chandele by Mr Ravi Kochak CEng FIMechE FIE, Chair of the Institution's India Branch.
Ravi Kochak welcomed the guests to the day’s events. The audience included senior army officials and their spouses, members of the Institution, students of SRM College and ITS Engineering College and family members of the late Col Nagrani, including Mr Ram Nagrani IPS, founder Director-General of the National Security Guard (NSG).
Also attending were the Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Division Board of IEI and the Secretary General of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers, India.
