The unusual situation in Palestine, as well as around the world, requires new innovations to continue promoting the IMechE message and the engineering skills of our students. Mohammed Alawneh IMechE Palestine Representative reports on the Chapter's recent activities.
IMechE Palestine Student Chapter has worked steadily and passionately to continue its work leading activities and raising the educational skills of its members despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
By the beginning of April 2020, IMechE Palestine has organised a specialised championship in SolidWorks, to design a Ramadan lamp. The winner was awarded a professional course in SolidWorks, while the runner-up was awarded monetary prize.

Another two courses where given for free by Eng. Abdul-Rahim Dardouk to IMechE students at An-Najah National University. These courses, which concentrated on 'Adobe Premier' and 'Instagram Security' skills, were both held via Zoom. These courses aimed to enrich students’ knowledge in modern-day internet uses, thus enriching their abilities to getting involved in the market.
Earlier this year, IMechE has provided a workshop in the field of solar energy, aiming to enrich students’ knowledge regarding renewable energy possibilities and acknowledge their role as mechanical engineers in the clean energy field. IMechE Palestine has also organised Speak Out for Engineering annual competition via Microsoft Teams.
Whatever the circumstances, we seek to provide more hope to work towards more knowledge and cultural exchange, to cooperate with all IMechE Chapters around the world.
