Jade Abbott supports members in different companies round the world to become professionally registered

With over 114,000 members, IMechE is one of the fasting growing UK institutions. A key area of focus for IMechE is growing and supporting engineers globally and IMechE’s international team currently supports the 23,000 plus members who are based outside the UK. IMechE currently has staff in the UK, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Jade Abbott, IMechE’s Global Account Manager, works with key corporate accounts based in the Caspian, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Recently Abbott spoke at Shell’s Europe, Middle East and Africa Rotating Equipment Engineering Meeting (REEM), to share information on IMechE is and the value of Professional Registration for engineers. In attendance at REEM, were over 120 delegates representing various global Shell locations.

Abbott’s focus is in supporting her key accounts and guiding their engineers in their personal path to professional registration. Abbott explains, “Depending on the account I am working with and the audience in the room it could be career professionals looking to move into becoming Chartered or developing engineers interested in learning more about their possible career pathways. Each engineer is able to go away with a clearer idea on what their individual path to membership is and what it essentially means to become professionally registered, with key steps to achieving it.”

Shell has recently made the announcement to staff within the Rotating Equipment (RE) discipline to work towards professional registration as part of their development plans. Shell’s ongoing support for staff extends outside of the RE discipline, and Abbott is currently supporting Mechanical Engineers from multiple discipline’s in achieving registration for their engineers across multiple key Shell locations.
