First Women Awards 2012 shortlist announced

This year's pioneering nominees range from engineers to entrepreneurs

Ground-breaking female leaders from across the country have been nominated for 2012 First Women Awards, held in association with Lloyds Banking Group.

This year's shortlist includes Suzanne Flynn, UK's first ever RAF engineering officer and Kim Mears, who is leading the development of UK's £2.5bn uper-fast fibre-optic network.

A 19-year-old London Underground apprentice, Sellafield’s executive director, a Ferrari technology expert and an entrepreneurial retail duo are some of the other nominees.

Science and Technology category
Fiona O'Hara, Accenture
Cara Tredget, Shell
Pam Maynard, Avanade
Ruth Mallors, AAD KTN
Pernille Bruun-Jensen, Intuit UK

Founded in 2005 by Real Business and the CBI, the awards recognise trailblazing women from the business, entrepreneurial, engineering, science and technology, and media sectors who are laying the foundations for the next generation of female talent.

The judging panel will meet over the coming weeks to decide winners for each of the seven categories which will be announced on June 28, 2012 at Grand Connaught Rooms, London.
