EngineeringUK has appointed Mark Titterington as its new chief executive.
Titterington will join the organisation, which works independently to inspire tomorrow’s engineers, in October. He has a background in government relations and corporate communications, and has spent more than a decade at Syngenta, one of the world’s leading plant science and agriculture technology companies.
“I’m delighted to welcome Mark to EngineeringUK at an exciting time for the organisation,” said Malcolm Brinded, chair of EngineeringUK. “Mark’s business leadership and wide communications and policy background, together with the new perspective he brings, mean he is well placed to build on the achievements of Paul Jackson and the team, and to work with the engineering community to deliver our collective ambition to inspire tomorrow’s engineers. I very much look forward to working with him.”
Titterington said Engineering UK played a “critical role” in inspiring the next generation. “I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the team and lead the organisation in the next phase of development.”
Philip Greenish CBE, Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Engineering, welcomed Titterington's appointment. "Engineering forms the backbone of the UK’s economy, accounting for half its exports and over a fifth of its gross value added," he said. "EngineeringUK has a crucial role in the engineering profession’s drive to attract more people into engineering careers in order to meet the challenge of the UK’s engineering skills shortage. We look forward to working with Mark to achieve this.”
