High-speed rail project searching for technical talent
Scores of well-paid, high-ranking engineering jobs on HS2 are open to application, as the controversial project to build a new high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham, and then the north, continues to progress.
Recruitment efforts have been stepped up on the website, with a host of engineering-related roles up for grabs. There are almost 50 roles currently available, in areas such as cost and planning, project control, commercial management, quality engineering, transport modelling, governance, health and safety, and procurement.
Outline design work on the London to Birmingham stretch of the project has been completed, and an HS2 bill currently working its way through Parliament is expected to be granted Royal Assent in 2016. That approval would trigger detailed design activities, along with preparatory work such as ground investigations. Some enabling contracts on the project have already been placed, and construction on the link could start as early as 2017.
HS2 said: “HS2 will be the biggest infrastructure project that Britain has built for generations. The development phase is progressing well and we plan to begin construction in 2017. It’s a very exciting time to get on board this landmark project.”
An HS2 jobs-focused website has been launched here listing available roles as well as detailing application procedures and terms and benefits.
