Chile miners rescue

Professional engineers have done an excellent job

To coin a phrase, "It Wos Engineers Wot Did It". Never have engineers had such a good press as during media coverage of the Chilean miners rescue. I hope the elected leaders of our profession will use their best efforts and get a bit of good publicity in the media for us whilst the incident is still in the news. This could be achieved by ensuring that the public is made aware of the multitude of technical difficulties which needed to be recognised and how these were overcome by a host of professional engineers of the many disciplines who have done such a wonderful job.

Let us go a little way towards getting rid of the greasy rag image.   

Our "leaders" may also improve their own somewhat tarnished image among members by removing their digits over this matter.
