In March 2013 The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair will welcome over 65,000 students, teachers and families to ExCeL London. We need to you help us make this our best yet.
The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people. For the first time, the annual event will be extending to four days from 14 – 17 March 2013 with Thursday and Friday dedicated to school groups and Saturday and Sunday open to families.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone with a background in science, technology, engineering or maths can volunteer, as long as you're over 18, and committed to helping our visitors get the best from all there is on offer. Whether you're a student, starting out in your career or a company director, Big Bang Fair want to hear from you.
Exciting volunteering opportunities
Your role will be to help visitors to get the most out of the fair, which will be packed with interactive activity stands from across the country. From taking control of a virtual nuclear reactor to finding out about the physiology of humans surviving in the world's harshest environments and being part of a Guinness World Record in the first ever explosive live science show, there are so many activities to excite and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Your chance to inspire budding scientists and engineers
There are a variety of roles for volunteers. You could be helping visitors find their way around the fair, recommending interactive stands and activities to people with particular interests, accompanying school groups, and assisting with the National Science and Engineering Competition. Or, you could get involved in the careers sessions for young people or help Big Bang Fair to evaluate the impact on visitors’ attitudes to science and engineering.
If you’re passionate about showing young people the opportunities available to them through science, technology, engineering and maths then there’s a role to suit you.
Training will be available along with all the information you need about the fair and your role at the event.
