This week Dr Tony Cox, a Fellow of the Institution, was interviewed in the Burton Mail giving his thoughts on whether Alton Towers would ever recover from the crash in June. A recent poll from the Institution which found that the UK public would encourage young people to become engineers was picked up in the regional media. Elsewhere the Vision Awards continues to pick up coverage. There was also mention of Tang Jun, the youngest person – and first from China – to be awarded the Institution’s William Sweet Smith prize for aerospace.
Dr Tony Cox says that he sees no reason why The Smiler Ride at Alton Towers should not re-open in the near future.
Recent research from the Institution which found that UK residents would encourage young people to become engineers over a doctors, bankers or accountants.
