The past two weeks saw, among other media coverage, the Institution’s new Head of Energy and Environment Dr Jenifer Baxter make her maiden appearance on TV for the Institution when she was interviewed about the Alton Tower’s rollercoaster crash on Sky News. There was coverage on the BBC of the latest artefact to be granted an Engineering Heritage Award, local and trade coverage about the appointment of the Institution’s new President Prof Richard Folkson, as well as trade coverage for the Institution’s latest report about heat energy.

The Institution’s Dr Jenifer Baxter was interviewed on Sky news about the crash on the Alton Tower’s Smiler ride. She also appeared on the Sky News 10pm bulletin, Forth Radio and Magic FM Leeds

Article featuring some of the submission made by the Institution’s Prof Ian Arbon to the Scottish Energy Committee on energy security. Comments by Prof Arbon were also picked up by The National.

 

Article about 1964 Formula 1 World Champion John Surtees OBE visiting the Oxford Brookes Formula Student team. The news was also covered by The Oxford Times.

Article about the launch of the Kilimanjaro Challenge which aims to develop a wheelchair to assist a disabled athlete climb Kilimanjaro. The Institution is sponsoring the Challenge and the expedition and development of the wheelchair is being led by a number of Institution members based in Spain.
