This month, the report ‘Incontinence: Engineering innovation to enhance quality of life’ was featured in The Times and Philippa Oldham appeared on Sky News, giving her reaction to the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier which was leaking because of a faulty seal. News of “The Danny” receiving an Engineering Heritage Award featured on both BBC regional radio and TV. There was also regional coverage of the Engineering Heritage Award for Stoke-on-Trent’s potters’ mill and the results of our poll which found that the majority of public think skilled apprenticeships offer more job security than a university degree. The Institution’s ‘Nuclear power: a future pathway for the UK’ was published, recommending that the Government should outline its plans for decarbonising the entire UK energy sector as part of its commitment to a low-carbon future. There was coverage in the trade press for our reactive statements that were issued in response to the Government’s careers strategy, the BEIS report ‘Leaving the EU: implications for the civil nuclear sector’ and Highways England’s ‘Strategic Road Network Initial Report’.

Coverage of ‘Global Food: Waste Not, Want Now’ which estimates that annually between a third and a half of all food produced is wasted worldwide.
