Over the past few weeks the Institution has been featured extensively in the national, regional and trade media. This includes coverage on the BBC of our visit to Stormont with the Bloodhound Supersonic Car; an article by Stephen Tetlow in the New Statesman; coverage of comments made by Dr Colin Brown about HS3; and a mention for Formula Student in the Daily Mail.

In October the Institution took the Bloodhound Supersonic Car to the Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont. The event, which included a visit from more than 150 schoolchildren, was widely covered by the press, with additional articles on BBC Online, the News Letter, and the Ballymoney Times.

 

A comment piece by Stephen Tetlow about the state of STEM education in the UK was featured in a special supplement for the New Statesman.

 

Coverage of the world record-breaking Formula Student car from ETH Zurich, which has just recorded the fastest acceleration time of any electric vehicle in history.

 

The Institution's influential Global Food report was mentioned on BBC Parliament during a House of Lords debate.

 

Coverage of comments made by Dr Colin Brown following the announcement by the Prime Minister that the UK is to get a third High Speed rail network. Dr Brown’s comments were also picked up by Rail Technology Magazine.

 

An article about reports from National Grid that spare electricity capacity will be at a seven year low this winter, which quotes Dr Colin Brown. He was also quoted in Works Management magazine and E&T.

 

An interview with Dr Helen Meese about how the UK can benefit from the boom in composites.

 

Coverage of a North East manufacturing firm, which was awarded an MX Award earlier this year. The awards also received coverage in the Wrexham Leader, MHW Magazine and The Advertiser.

 

Coverage of a regional Institution event in Portsmouth which featured a talk by David Willetts MP.
