Nominations Committee Volunteers

The Nominations Committee (NomCo) has been in operation at IMechE since 2020 and has been for responsible for developing and managing inclusive and transparent processes, to support the recruitment, assessment and nomination of suitably experienced candidates to the Trustee Board and governance boards/committees.

About you

We are now seeking two new Ordinary Members, in voluntary appointments, for NomCo who have the following skills: 

• Experience of board, committee or volunteer leadership roles
• Experience in recruitment, talent management, succession planning
• Understanding of good charity governance principles
• Sound judgement, integrity and discretion
• Ability to assess candidates objectively against agreed criteria

These skills may have been demonstrated through your involvement with a range of organisations (e.g., work, academic, charitable, professional bodies etc.).

What you will do

This is an opportunity for those IMechE members wishing to broaden their skills base, experience and knowledge and, at the same time, helping to ensure that our Institution is accessible, diverse, and progressive.

How much time it will take

There are usually six NomCo meetings of per year, with one in-person meeting at Birdcage Walk in London, the rest taking place virtually. Reasonable expenses to attend the in-person meeting will be reimbursed by the IMechE. The time commitment will be approximately 1-2 days per month, but will also involve short, intense activity around specific recruitment tasks and will require work outside of regularly scheduled meetings. The term of office is three years with the possibility of renewal for a further term.
