We are seeking talented individuals to join our Strategy Committee as Ordinary Members (two vacancies).

Our Strategy Committee (StratCom) leads the development of the Institution's Strategy, in support of its charitable purposes. The next major update for the Strategy is due in 2030, with an annual cycle of review and refresh to ensure that the Institution’s Strategy remains relevant and that priorities are aligned accordingly.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills and make a meaningful impact.

About you

Members of the committee will ideally have a combination of the attributes listed in the Role Description and Person Specification, bearing in mind that it would be rare to find all the skills in one person.

What you will do

  • Play a key role in strengthening the Institution’s strategic aims and future.
  • Work alongside other experienced professionals and senior leaders.
  • Gain valuable committee and board-level experience.
  • Contribute to the Institution’s long-term success.
  • Applications to join IMechE’s StratCom are open to all Corporate Members (Member and Fellow) of the Institution able to demonstrate substantial strategic planning at a senior level.

How much time it will take

  • Regular committee meetings – typically 6 per year – at least one in-person, (in London) and the rest online. Additional online meetings may be arranged.
  • Preparation and review of papers in advance of meetings.
  • An in-person Strategy Day takes place in May every year, ad hoc Working Groups.
  • Induction and training.
  • Term length: The role is a three-year term, extendable for a second term of up to three years.
