John Hulme started his career at Springfields in the Commercial Demonstration Fast Reactor Fuel development, then worked at Risley and Sellafield within Oxide Nuclear Flask Maintenance and in the transportation of ILW at Sellafield. Subsequently he worked within Systems Engineering at Magnox Hinkley Point A, and upon cessation of generation he moved to Hunterston A as Project Lead Infrastructure. He was then Site Contract Manager with NDA, Senior Consultant Engineering and latterly Project Manager Site Integration before most recently becoming Head of Waste Operation at Hunterston A.

One of John's key achievements was introducing radio remote control technology in the deployment of unique rail road technology in the movement/transportation of ILW within a nuclear context.

For the future he would like to help the Hunterston team achieve Scotland’s first Nuclear Site transition into the long term safe Care & Maintenance Phase.
