For the 2020 competition, we require all teams to identify team members wishing to attend the Silverstone event.
To understand how to organise this please download the procedure PDF.
As in previous years, this will be located at the Whittlebury Park campsite and will be open from 12:00 Tuesday 21 to 12:00 Monday 27 July. Camping pitches will be available in 6m x 6m spaces with each accommodating up to 6 campers. Tents for 6 or 8 persons will also be available to hire for the duration of the competition (bedding not provided).

Camping Frequently Asked Questions:
Can we BBQ? Safely, yes. Raise them off the ground and dispose of your hot coals safely.
Can we bring soundsystems? Modest soundsystems, yes. Be mindful that Whittlebury is a small rural village and noise travels. No noise after 23:00 please.
Can we drink alcohol? Yes, but keep it sensible. You’re working on cars and possibly driving them. You’re all adults, use your common sense.
Will our stuff be safe? The campsite has 24 security, but we would advise that you keep any valuables with you (or leave them at home!). IMechE and the campsite operators accept no liability for loss or damage to personal property.
Can I park next to my tent? No. For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, vehicle movement on the campsite is prohibited. Ample parking is available in the adjacent field.
Can we camp close to our mates if they’re in another team? Sure – pop us an email when you’ve made your booking and we’ll do what we can to reserve adjacent plots.
My question isn’t answered here, where do I get more information? Check the T&Cs on the campsite booking form. If you still can’t find an answer, email us at email@example.com
Food will be available to purchase onsite, but please note that payment will be in cash (pounds sterling) only. Also, there are plenty of food stores within a 15 minute drive of the circuit.
We do not advise that you have anything delivered to Silverstone during the competition as the organisers cannot take responsibility for any deliveries.
Please provide your own electric connector (16amp C-Forms) as they will be not be available to hire onsite.
All Class 1 Electric Vehicle entries will be issued with a data logger at Driver Registration (see Event Schedule). Further information on the data loggers can be found here.
European Health Card for UK Teams Competing in European Events
All UK team members should hold a valid European Health Card if competing in European Events. This entitles you to free medical treatment in the EU. If you have an existing card, ensure that it is still valid. You can visit the NHS website to update your card or to complete a free application for a new card.
The finalised event schedule for Formula Student 2020 will be available closer to the event.
Each Silverstone garage is 18m wide x 16.5m deep. Hence, each team will have 6m deep x 4m wide, allowing eight cars per garage with a centre walkway. Electricity and water will be available in all garages, as well as a separate WC/restroom in each garage.*

Impact Attenuator Testing
Any accredited testing site can be used, such as MIRA and TRL. Tests should only be conducted using equipment that is designed for the job. Please submit any test equipment facility details to the Formula Student Question Database for the appropriate judge to approve.
Free Wi-Fi will be available across Silverstone, including the Business Presentation rooms.
Silverstone has a fully-equipped Medical Centre.
Vehicles can be parked onsite and the parking allocation for teams and visitors will be confirmed nearer to the event. Please note that no support vehicles will be allowed in the paddock area during competition times. Therefore, once a team has dropped off their FS car and equipment to the garage, the support vehicle will need to be parked in the car park.
Formula Student endeavour to achieve high levels of safety during the competition and as such wish to highlight that the use of remotely controlled and unmanned aerial vehicles for photography or otherwise is prohibited at the event regardless of any safety features, fail-safe systems or insurances that may be present or in force.
A scrutineering queue will be available ahead of the Formula Student 2020 competition.
