Our rewards

  • Stakeholder Pension Scheme
    Our Stakeholder Pension Scheme with Scottish Widows gives you the opportunity to contribute any amount of your salary towards a pension fund. We will match your contributions up to 10% of your pensionable salary.

  • Life assurance
    You are automatically covered for life assurance worth three times your annual salary in the event of death in service.

Positive health and wellness

  • Bupa private medical insurance 
    This is a taxable benefit and we pay for single cover. You will also have access to Bupa Positive Health, an online programme helping you take small steps to improve your health and wellbeing.

  • Occupational health assessments 
    We will arrange and finance Occupational Health Assessments for you as required.

  • Employee Assistance Programme 
    Our Employee Assistance Programme provides you with free, confidential support and advice about your personal, financial and emotional issues, with call centres based here in the UK.

  • Eye tests 
    We will contribute towards the cost of an eye test, and towards the cost of glasses prescribed for VDU use.

  • Learning at Work Day 
    Once a year, Learning at Work Day will give you the opportunity to engage in a number of different activities that encourage learning and wellbeing.

Work-life balance

  • Flexible working 
    We are committed to letting you work as flexibly as possible within the demands of the business. Employees currently enjoy home-working, compressed hours, job sharing and part-time options.

  • Annual leave 
    As a UK employee you are entitled to a minimum of 26 days’ annual leave, exclusive of public bank holidays. This annual allowance will increase based on your length of service. All our offices are closed over Christmas and the New Year, over which time employees receive an additional Institution Day.

  • Other leave 
    Our allowances for sick pay and paid maternity/paternity leave currently exceed the government statutory payments.

Professional development

  • Personal development and review plan 
    Your Personal Development and Review Plan (PDRP) is updated annually and gives you a chance to review your performance at work and identify future development needs.

  • Learning and development 
    As an Investor in People, we encourage all employees to learn new skills. Training is offered individually, through our annual Corporate Training Plan and also through sponsored study.

  • Professional membership subscription 
    As an employee, you will be entitled to free membership of the Institution. We also offer employees one subscription to another relevant membership body, as needed.

Added benefits

  • Season ticket loan 
    As an employee you will be entitled to an interest-free Season Ticket Loan for travel to work after four weeks’ continuous service, repayable via monthly deductions from your salary over a 12-month period.

  • Cycle to work scheme 
    As an alternative to public transport, we run an annual cycle hire scheme. You can save up to 40% on the cost of a bicycle and equipment over a 12-month period, with an option to purchase the bike for one additional month’s payment or return it at the end of the hire period.

  • Give as you earn 
    With Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) you can donate to a charity of your choice through monthly deductions from your pre-tax salary. This allows you to benefit from not paying tax on the donations you make and the tax relief is instead passed on to the charity. In 2022, CAF awarded IMechE with a Payroll Giving Bronze certificate in recognition of our help in generating sustainable income sources for UK charities through Payroll Giving.
