I started my journey in Engineering over 20 years ago completing an Engineering apprenticeship. I worked for many years in the oil and gas industry particularly in Fabrication, Welding and Air Conditioning, on various sites and oil rigs in the North Sea off Aberdeen and working on the Nigerian BONGA project. I have worked in further Education teaching and assessing learners and apprentices in various colleges and training providers. This role has meant extensive travel working with large companies such as Siemens, Tata Steel, Network Rail and Babcock International. In my last role in FE I was department lead for Engineering teaching and assessment. I then moved to NEBOSH as a Product developer- Assessment Specialist, where I wrote several published Level 6 Diploma exams and assessments as well as Construction, Fire and Environmental Health and Safety papers before joining IMechE. I also have many years’ experience working on a freelance basis as an examiner, content/resource writer and Chief Examiner as well as an Independent End Point Assessor for several awarding bodies including EAL, NCFE and City and Guilds. All this material has been published and the exams and assessments sat by thousands of school children, college students and apprentices. I joined IMechE in November 2022 as Business Development Executive for the Northeast, Yorkshire and East Midlands regions. I then moved to a role as Membership Development Manager for East midlands and Eastern regions. I have recently joined IMechE's EPA team as the Assessment Development Manager. I am a professionally registered Engineer with IMechE EngTech membership. This role will involve managing the development of assessments and exams for apprentices End Point Assessment with IMechE as well as managing a team of assessment writers and working with employers, providers and regulators in the development of apprenticeship standards.
