Salma Suleyman

Salma is a Chartered Engineer, becoming a registered member in 2015, and has been affiliated with the IMechE since 2006 when she was awarded the Institution’s Ian Alexander Stuart Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship.

She started as a volunteer on the Young Members’ Board in 2013, and served on Council before being elected to the Trustee Board as Ordinary Member under 30 in 2017.

Following a Masters in mechanical engineering from Imperial College London, where she specialised in finite element analysis, and internships with BAE Systems undertaking mechanical analysis on Active Inceptor Sticks on military aircraft and Eurofighter head-up displays, Salma joined the railway. She has worked on London Underground deep tubes in operations and maintenance, HS2 feasibility and Crossrail delivery. She is currently a Jacobs consultant providing engineering management services within rail systems. Her current role is on the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme.
