Summary

Through a combination of theory, practical exercises and an exclusive virtual tour, you will learn the fundamental design and operating principles of a wind turbine including mechanical and electrical systems, structures, aerodynamics, power and energy yield. You will also gain an understanding of the asset life cycle, certification and training that is required in various areas of the onshore and offshore industry.

One of the greatest challenges facing the wind energy industry is sourcing the right expertise to design, build and maintain the necessary structures. Whether you are interested in entering the workforce for the first time, or you are transferring from another industry such as oil and gas, this course will provide you with an overview of the requirements to work in the industry, skills required and how you can transfer your existing technical knowledge and soft skills when entering the wind energy industry.

You will gain an understanding of the certification and training that is required in various areas of the industry for onshore and offshore operations and maintenance. Through a combination of theory and practical exercises you will learn the fundamental operating principles and design of a wind turbine including mechanical and electrical systems such as aerodynamics, power and energy yield.

We will also provide you with an understanding of the future trends in the wind turbine and renewable energy sector “An exploration of how offshore wind has grown in scale and ambition over the last two decades, and a look at some of the technologies and innovations which will help it continue to develop into the backbone of the UK’s electricity system.
