Summary

Designing to code is required to deliver safe systems and achieve regulatory compliance. This course provides clear understanding of the code requirements and enables engineers to interpret them correctly.

ASME B31.3 process piping code is the most popular code for design of piping system across many industries.

This course explains the requirements of ASME B31.3 code, teaching participants to interpret the code and apply it to their designs. Learning is enhanced by hands on exercises of calculations performed to code rules.

Participants will learn how to design their systems to withstand various loads, avoid overpressure, adequately analyse piping supports; select materials and components and define examination and testing requirements. This will help increase safety and efficiency of the designs produced and provide clear route to certification of the designs.

Who should attend?

Engineers involved in design, specification, construction and operation of piping systems. It would also benefit managers, designers, construction and project managers and procurement specialists working in the piping industry.

How will I benefit?

After the course, you will be able to…

  • Understand the pressure design of piping components and systems

  • Explain requirements for piping flexibility and support design

  • Interpret requirements for piping stress analysis, including Stress Intensification, Allowable Stresses and Load Combination

  • Establish Testing and Inspection requirements

  • Correctly select components, joints and materials

  • Prepare for certification of the design in accordance with EU and UK pressure equipment regulations

  • Understand the scope and requirements of various Services: D, M, Normal, Severe Cyclic Condition, High Pressure Piping
