As industries adopt electrification, automation, and high-density energy systems, electrical safety risks are rapidly evolving, making it vital to have Electrical Safety systems in place.  

This two-day professional course is designed for engineers, technical managers, and safety professionals responsible for or interacting with electrical systems in complex, high-risk operational and industrial environments.  

Engineers frequently supervise contractors, manage maintenance teams, or lead projects where they are responsible for others' safety. This course provides the framework to discharge that duty effectively, protecting their team from electrical hazards and ensuring compliance with site-specific rules. 

In this course, delegates will explore common electrical hazards such as electric shock, arc flash, fire, and explosion, and examine how these risks are influenced by equipment design, working practices, human factors, and organisational controls. In turn delegates will be better equipped to protect themselves and others, and to respond appropriately in the event of an incident or emergency. 

Furthermore the course will focus on the role of an Electrical Safety Management System (ESMS). Delegates will gain a clear understanding of what an ESMS is, why it is required, and how it supports legal compliance, risk reduction, and business continuity. The course explains the key elements of an ESMS, including leadership and responsibility, competency and training, safe systems of work, risk assessment, and continuous improvement. In turn, delegates will be able to build and implement ESMS to ensure legal compliance, support safe practices across different environments, and reduce associated risks. 

The course examines ESMS, referencing recognised international legislation, standards, and guidance, including NFPA 70E, DGUV guidance, IEC standards, the Electricity at Work Regulations, and other relevant UK legal requirements. The course explains how these requirements apply in real-world work environments, helping you understand your responsibilities and make sound decisions when planning, supervising, or performing electrical work. This knowledge supports safer working practices and reduces the likelihood of errors, rework, or unsafe shortcuts.
