As we move further into June, the deadline to apply for our Apprentice and EngTech Awards and University scholarships is inching closer (30 June).

You may be an apprentice or studying for a PhD. Whatever your level of skill and knowledge, we want to support you on your journey of lifelong learning and development.

Our Apprentice and EngTech awards are prestigious accolades, developed to provide young engineers with a helping hand as they embark on their exciting new careers. You will cultivate relationships with other like-minded engineers and gain invaluable contacts within various industries.

The purpose of the award is to support upcoming engineers, as well as their employers and educators. You will hone your interpersonal skills, helping to highlight your abilities to prospective employers and peers.

If you’re starting an undergraduate degree in the upcoming academic year, or are already studying for a degree accredited by the institution, apply for the undergraduate scholarship. You could be awarded up to £9,000 to support you during your time at University, but as previous applicants will tell you, the scholarship is worth far more than any monetary value.

Previous winner Nandini Shiralkar describes the award as a really rewarding process and says,

Nandini Shiralkar“Doing applications like these, you get to see how everything you have done over the past few years fits together, and how that could lead to a future career.”

There are two Whitworth scholarships, one for engineers studying for an undergraduate or masters, and another for postgraduates. This highly prestigious award, founded by innovative engineer and inventor, Sir Joseph Whitworth in 1868, is a highly respected honour. It enables the winner to carry with them the title of ‘Whitworth scholar’ as they progress throughout their professional careers.

The aim of this scholarship is and always has been to award outstanding engineers with exceptional skills in both practical and academic disciplines, who have an abundance of creativity and determination.

While the Institution’s awards and scholarships are an extremely helpful financial contribution, that really is just the tip of the iceberg. We have a passion for supporting and developing the future of engineers. We guide, inspire, and encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and lifelong learning.

Don’t miss out on this chance to progress to new heights, submit your application or nomination by 30 June, 2021.
