We are delighted to award TV presenter and engineer Rob Bell the honour of becoming a Companion of IMechE in recognition of his important service to mechanical engineering.

Rob studied mechanical engineering at Bath University and has presented a wide range of TV series, including programmes on Engineering Giants, Britain’s Top Ships and Greatest Bridges.

Rob has worked closely with our Engineering Heritage Committee and the Tank Museum on a series of very popular videos – the Top Five Tanks and the Bottom Five Tanks.

Rob was presented with his award by President Phil Peel at a ceremony in Birdcage Walk earlier this year.

On receiving his award, Rob said:

“I am very passionate about the future of the Institution and the significant role it has in changing the landscape of engineering, of changing the diversity within engineering and using engineering to secure the safety of our planet.

Thank you very much for this recognition. It is an honour and I look forward to working more with the Institution going forward.”

Look out for Rob’s latest video with the Engineering Heritage Committee “Top Five Tank Engines” which will be out shortly!
