New for 2022: FS Sim Racing Series

Formula Student Team

Simulation Racing
Simulation Racing

Starting November 2021, the Formula Student Sim Race Series will run as its own event throughout the academic year, coinciding with the main Formula Student competition.

The purpose of the Series is to provide an opportunity to utilise modern engineering skills such as simulation analysis, data handling, pit-tactics and other computer-based methods.

Initially, we plan to run one (1) team per university, but this may be revised dependent on the number of entrants. The Series is open to university teams as well as alumni (this includes faculty staff and IMechE staff). IMPORTANT: This is an optional, stand-alone event with zero points contribution to scoring in the main FS2022 competition, in any competition class. However, unique awards for the FS Sim Race Series are available to win and will be presented as part of the awards ceremony at the live event at Silverstone in July.

This document outlines an initial proposal for the event to enable onward discussion with the key stakeholders.

Please let us know if you are interested in competing in the FS Sim Race Series by emailing sim.racing@member.imeche.org and chief.judge@member.imeche.org with the following:

  • University name
  • Lead contact name, email address and contact telephone number

We will release details on how to formally register in the coming weeks . Constructive feedback on this document is also greatly appreciated and can be submitted to the above email accounts.
