    Once you’ve registered as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Engineering Technician (EngTech), you’ll get:

    As a member of IMechE, you’ll participate in structured CPD throughout the course of your career.

    CPD includes training, courses and other learning activities.

    You can find professional development resources in our head office library. In our virtual library, we offer hundreds of e-books and online documents. Need a hard copy? You can borrow books – even specific chapters – and have them sent right to your door.

    Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv)

    If you're already professionally registered as a CEng with the Institution, or as an IEng with a relevant Masters level qualification - you can apply to become a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).

    International recognition

    As a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and Member of the IMechE you could be eligible to apply for these other qualifications to extend recognition of your achievements:

    • To apply to become a EurIng and FEANI registrant, you need to be a CEng Member and have at least four years' post-graduate experience
    • The latest application forms are available from the FEANI website under point 1.3 on the 'EUR ING/Register' page
    • Guidance notes can be found on the International pages of the Engineering Council website
    • The International Register of Professional Engineers is open to CEng members who have at least two years' post-graduate experience, have spent at least two years in responsible charge of significant engineering works and can maintain relevant CPD at a satisfactory level
    • The application forms and guidance notes are available from the Engineering Council website
    • The International Engineering Technologist Register is open to IEng Members who have at least seven years' post-graduate experience, have two years in responsible charge of engineering work and can maintain relevant CPD at a satisfactory level
    • The application forms and guidance notes are available from the Engineering Council website
