How CPT members can gain professional registration

We have teamed up with Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) to help you, and other CPT members, to become professionally registered with us.

If you are working towards the CPT Engineering Manager Professional Standard, we can help you become one of our members at Affiliate or Associate level, and gain professional registration.

As a CPT UK member, gaining professional registration with us will enable you to achieve a benchmark of quality that is recognised by engineers and technicians across the bus and coach industry, both in the UK and internationally.

What is professional registration?

Professional registration is the mechanical engineering industry's gold standard. It’s a world-class validation of your knowledge, experience and professional development that sets you apart and, most importantly, gives you a competitive edge in the workplace.

By gaining professional registration and becoming one of our Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or Engineering Technician (Engtech) members, you'll gain an accreditation that's internationally recognised – and you'll receive support and opportunities for training and development throughout your career.

As a professionally registered engineer, you can use these letters after your name:
  • EngTech MIMechE, or
  • IEng MIMechE, or
  • CEng MIMechE
Alongside your CPT Professional Standard, professional registration with us can
give you:
  • a potential increase in your earnings
  • a qualification with international recognition
  • independent verification of your skills and experience
