Design for Sustainability

The competition

The competition is open to all Young Members around the world. The competition is the initiative of IYMC to provide a platform for YM in developing their innovative mindset and presentation skills on a particular topic. The theme for the competition resonates with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and COP27 in addressing the world's challenges. Relevant information can be found here. The competition also provides an avenue for future STEM practitioners from the undergraduate affiliate members to young members in the industry to voice out their brilliant ideas towards sustainability.

How to enter

The competition is opened to all active International Young Members and non-members of the institution. The competition is free of charge and comes with two different categories: Student Affiliates and Working Young Members.

All International Young Members are invited to submit a paper based on the specific topic. The paper submitted must be in the form of empirical study essay, product development ideas, conceptual models or even providing critical reviews and ideas on the theme.

Each member can submit only one paper, maximum 3 authors per article. Manuscripts submitted are final and cannot be changed with no reasons. The manuscript must not contain prohibited elements, is free from plagiarism elements, and has never been awarded any prizes in other competition or published in any form of media.

The paper must be written in English. Manuscripts submitted must be in MS word and in PDF format. The references cited in the article should be listed using APA style. The evaluations will be carried out by appointed panels by IYMC to select the winners in each category. Judges’ decisions are final.

Maximum page number of paper is 6 pages. The contents of the manuscript contain 2,000 - 3,000 words (excluding abstracts and bibliography). Abstract contains 250-300 words with 5 keywords.
