Unmanned Aircraft Systems Challenge Safety Volunteer

Become a flight line attendant or scrutineer at the annual Unmanned Aircraft Systems Challenge hosted in the East Midlands.

There are three exciting roles available for you to get involved in the UAS Challenge.

Safety Volunteers
In this role you will be part of the team overseeing the hanger area where the students build and repair their UAS. This is a hands-on role where you can get involved with the building and advice. Volunteers must be strong communicators and help the students keep to time.

Flight Scheduling Volunteers
Based between the flight line and hanger, these volunteers must manage the flight schedule for teams and if necessary, help them and their UAS transition from hanger to flight line and vice-versa.

Flight Line Safety Volunteers
Volunteers must supervise the flight line area and ensure that no-one goes beyond the safety line unauthorised. Plus, it's a great place to help teams get ready for the UAS flights and watch take offs and landings.

Time commitment and location

The UAS Challenge happens annually in Grantham, East Midlands. The time commitment is three days.

Requirements and training

You will be asked to complete an online survey which will then be used as part of the volunteer selection process.
